I have come across many impressive and inspirational people in my time in medical technology education and sales. I have always had the goal to run an interview series with these people, to find out more about them personally and what led them to the career they ended up in. I am genuinely looking forward to each of these! I hope you find it interesting too.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Life Stories | Andy Barker | Ep.239
Q: How do you switch off?
I try and train most days and spend time with my kids, which naturally helps me switch off from work.
Life Stories | Andy Barker | Ep.239
Q: What made you want to get involved in healthcare?
I realized you could work in sport, but not be an athlete, which lit a fire in me to pursue physiotherapy.
Life Stories | Ep. 236 | Bob Stewart
Q: How has your approach changed over the course of your career?
Bob shared that he is now more focused on getting feedback from players and ensuring they understand the impact of treatments, recognizing that each athlete is unique and needs tailored rehabilitation.
Life Stories | Ep. 236 | Bob Stewart
Q: What started your journey into sports medicine?
Bob initially thought he would become a PE teacher but found his interest in physiotherapy during open days at universities. He eventually graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University and started working in both the NHS and private clinics, which led to his career in sports medicine and rugby.
Life Stories | Ep. 234 | Paul Godfrey
Q: What would your advice be for people that are looking to get into the area or are currently working in sport or in any aspect of health care?
I wouldn't be too keen to get into elite sport too soon in your career. It's important that you don't start in football too long since you might end up being labeled only as a football physio. Build your CV and foundation, and ensure there's good mentorship available.
