  • Love this podcast

As an HCP (BC-HIS), I love the knowledge that is brought and so many times, a new perspective on what we do. Sometimes we get stuck in our ways of how we do things and this sheds a new light on why do we do what we do. Also being a hearing aid user, this podcast is a great use for advocacy in the profession for hearing loss across the board. Thank you for all you do!

  • Love

I’m in love with how informational and educated this podcast is. The insight that we get from here is a whole lot different from the scam sights and online critiques that follow a false narrative. It’s good to hear real experts, real interns, real students & professors etc. speak about issues and solutions regarding hearing and hearing aids.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Stop Telling People “Nothing Can Be Done” About Tinnitus
Q: Jeff, before we close out for the day, what is that number one takeaway you want our community to walk away with?
For tinnitus patients, there is genuine hope and a path forward; for clinicians, researchers, and patients together, the network represents a collaborative, data-informed approach that can shorten the gap between research and real-world care and empower patients to actively participate in their treatment decisions.
Stop Telling People “Nothing Can Be Done” About Tinnitus
Q: Jeff, you and your team, the problem you're trying to solve is raising awareness of these Learning Health Networks. Q, stop the ring. So for listeners who may be hearing about stop the ring for the first time, what is this non-profit, Stop the Ring, and how does it differ from traditional Tinnitus advocacy efforts?
Stop the Ring is a Learning Health Network focused on outcomes and data-driven care rather than just advocacy. It centers patients, clinicians, and researchers to break down silos, share data, and rapidly iterate on interventions that actually improve patient lives, while using a structured, open framework to measure and compare effectiveness across subgroups.
How Learning Health Networks Improve Access, Insight, and Patient Success
Q: How does real-world data differ from traditional research samples in LHNs, and why is it important?
Real-world data come from routine clinical practice across diverse populations and settings, capturing how interventions perform in everyday care, whereas traditional research often uses strict protocols and selected populations. LHNs leverage real-world data to understand what works for whom, in what contexts, and to adapt quickly, improving relevance and timeliness of care.
How Learning Health Networks Improve Access, Insight, and Patient Success
Q: Now, for someone who's never heard the term before, what is a learning health network in plain language?
A learning health network is a collaborative system that unites patients, families, clinicians and researchers to share information and data, so findings can be translated into clinical practice faster and more effectively, with continuous feedback and improvement across multiple sites.
Real ear measurements (REM) and best practices
Q: Why isn't Real Ear measurement universally adopted despite strong evidence?
There are concerns about time, cost, and ambiguity about which targets to use, but practitioners can enhance adoption by integrating REM into efficient workflows, using automated tools, and continually tying measurements to meaningful patient outcomes.
