I listen to a lot of podcasts and Folkways is my absolute favorite podcast I’ve ever listened to. Each episode is so beautifully put together and well researched that you really are transported to another world. Frequently I will replay old episodes and glean something new from it.
A mesmerising listen from start to finish. Such care and attention is given to the generous sharing of stories, knowledge and understanding of our landscape and its people. It’s to be savoured, to be enjoyed time and time again, an absolute delight.
This podcast is enjoyable on multiple levels. The narrator has a mellow voice that works especially well in her meditation episodes. Her stories adapted from lore do an excellent job of adhering to the folk tales while fleshing out the human experience. Most interesting to me, though, is the connection of what we today consider simply lore to its practical origins of yesteryear.
