  • Great show

I dont think you should praise war generals until they stop killing kids. Rip em a new one if anything! It’s sadistic and unnecessary. No sane person would hurt kids over a business dispute. The media is way too kind.

  • History Hit is one of my favourite podcasts

Absolutely love this show and all the effort that goes into it. I especially love the series that allow you to go more in depth on a topic, like for King Tut and Thomas Cochrane. I’d love to see more series on female figures in history in the future!

EDIT: Just wanted to add how much I loved the new Forbidden City episode!

Can Air Power Alone Topple Governments?
Q: First of all, can you just give me the quick 101? What is the difference between strategic air power and tactical air power?
Strategic air power aims to affect the enemy at the political and economic heart—bypassing front lines to target civilian populations, financial centers, and government installations—while tactical air power influences battles on the ground and supports frontline operations; the distinction hinges on where and how the impact is expected to occur, and the debate centers on whether air power can actually win wars by targeting the enemy's will rather than its means.
The Commanders: Rommel
Q: How did Rommel's reputation evolve from World War I into World War II, and how should we judge his legacy?
David argues that Rommel was a highly capable commander whose brilliance was tempered by the constraints and moral complexities of serving under the Nazi regime; his legacy should be viewed as nuanced, recognizing both extraordinary military skill and the ethical ambiguities of his era.
The Commanders: Rommel
Q: Was Rommel encouraged to take bold independent action in his early campaigns?
Saul David explains that Rommel's early actions were driven by a combination of natural aggressiveness, tactical clarity, and the supportive but sometimes ambiguous expectations of his superiors, which allowed him to improvise on the battlefield while still facing limits from higher command.
The First Vikings in Iceland
Q: How does the Book of Settlements serve its purpose?
It clarifies where boundaries are between private and state ownership of land.
The First Vikings in Iceland
Q: What are the founding documents of Iceland?
The Book of Settlement.
