  • Why I published my own failing security score

Daniel did his homework. He came in knowing about the 3.4 out of 10 score on my own security audit and asked directly why I made that failure public instead of quietly fixing it. He also asked the best closing question I've had on a podcast: what's the through line in your career that only became clear in hindsight. Specific, prepared questions get better answers, and he had them. Easy conversation to be a guest on.

  • Engaging Questions, Great Experience

I really enjoyed being a guest on Daniel's podcast. The conversation flowed naturally, and it was clear he took the time to research my background beforehand so he could guide the discussion in a meaningful way. His questions were thoughtful and created plenty of opportunities for me to share my expertise, framework, and perspective on brand strategy, entrepreneurship, and the lessons I've learned through multiple business pivots. Daniel was welcoming, well-prepared, and made the entire experien... more

Under-promise and over-deliver consistently, communicate realistically, and manage expectations so clients experience reliable outcomes and longer relationships, which also protects your reputation when results become uncertain.
What 10 Years in Google Ads Taught Me About the AI Revolution | Michael Elliott
Q: Failure is feedback. What specific failure shook you the most, and why did the takeaway matter?
There were seven-figure business losses due to contracts failing and cash-flow pressures; these events taught me to diversify and to value resilience and operational discipline over chasing rapid growth, ultimately strengthening my approach to risk and client expectations.

Q: What makes a diagnosis different from chasing symptoms, and how do you walk a client through it?
Diagnosis involves a full strategic analysis including market evaluation, internal strengths and weaknesses, and stakeholder sentiment to uncover root causes rather than merely addressing surface problems; the process is collaborative and unfolds over several sessions to ensure sustainable change.

Q: What is the seven-question quiz and how can it help a business owner?

Entrepreneurship 101 in its first season, features Stephen Wright talking about helping small to midsize business owners cut through noise, and identify as well as the your book.
Q: What are the four strategies and how does an owner know which one applies right now?
The four strategies are: revise an aspect of the business, expand a part of the business, disrupt the marketplace, and pick one core value to guide long-term decisions; the best-fit choice is determined by analyzing the current problem, root causes, and where the business most needs momentum.
