  • Great for quick, non-partisan budget updates

I’m an MPP who doesn’t always have time to keep track of the federal budget process. This podcast has helped me stay afloat of what is going on each week, featuring the overall budget picture as well as specific aspects like an appropriation or CBO report. Great podcast!

Budget battle in the House
Q: What is the argument House leaders are making to rally support?
They argue that this is just the beginning of the process and emphasize bipartisan work on the reconciliation bill which is crucial after agreeing on the budget resolution.
Budget battle in the House
Q: Why is the hard right Freedom Caucus all upset about this?
They are upset because the Senate budget resolution only requires $4 billion in spending cuts over 10 years whereas the House is aiming for significantly higher cuts, highlighting a disconnect between the two chambers.
Border security and foreign aid fights
Q: Any chance they have amendments to make any effort at all to sort of up the funding for that?
None of them really seem to be aimed at increasing funding.
Border security and foreign aid fights
Q: Do you think Republicans will have the votes to pass it?
I think there are enough Republicans who don't think we can cut funding to the United Nations, but I think they could have majority Republican support.
Funding freeze turmoil
Q: Tell us what the back and forth was there and did anything come out of that?
Russell Vought said the president believes that the law is not constitutional, and that the president does have the ability to delay funding.
