  • Roger Stone and Al Franken

Remember Roger Stone predicted the "Al Franken thing" hours before it broke. Rather than being a grass roots scandal such as the new ones, this one looked more like political astro-turf engineered by the self-described "dirty trickster"

I think you should have Hassan in to respond to your takes on him! A pro democracy movement should be open to ideas and let people decide for themselves.

  • Tim debates Rep Gottheimer

Good job Tim! You model respect while passionately and intelligently disagreeing. Unfortunately I found the Congressman’s arguments to be full of inconsistencies and his being a Democrat, I was disappointed that he could make excuses for Trump.

Maybe your respectfully arguing with him will make a difference In his thinking. I hope so. Trump is one extremely dangerous mentally ill man. That the congressman couldn’t acknowledge that only means he’ll get more dangerous. For all of us.

  • Tim you’re better than this

There are serious concerns in the country right now. Please don’t allow airtime for unserious politicians. This latest representative can get bent while he’s collecting his checks, and not being in DC.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Where Did the Campus Protests Go in Trump 2.0?
Q: What explains the apparent quieting of campus protests under Trump 2.0, despite earlier intensities?
Lauren explains that colleges changed protest rules, Trump intensified crackdown rhetoric on campuses, and the activism fatigue among Gen Z plus strategic caution from activists reduced disruptive protests, while calls for broader coalitions and tangible wins remain central to sustaining engagement.
Trump Said “Total Blockade”—That’s Not Happening | Command Post
Q: Is a blockade an act of war?
Yes, a blockade is framed as an act of war, and historical precedents like the Cuban quarantine show how such actions are essentially acts of war even when labeled differently for political reasons.
Bill Kristol & Ryan Goodman: How Trump Could Weaponize Surveillance
Q: What are the main checks being proposed or discussed?
Proposals include a formal warrant requirement on the back-end searches of US person data, with specific emergencies exceptions and limitations on metadata searches, along with stronger internal oversight and safeguards to prevent abuse by any administration.
Bill Kristol & Ryan Goodman: How Trump Could Weaponize Surveillance
Q: So what's the current actual debate?
The debate centers on whether there should be stricter standards and a warrant requirement for US persons who get swept up in 702 searches, balanced against preserving powerful capabilities for foreign threat interception; Republicans push for a clean reauthorization while Democrats push for reform with checks and oversight.
Trump Says The Strait Is “Open.” So Why Isn’t Anyone Moving? (w/ Sal Mercogliano)
Q: What are the long-term implications if Iran maintains control of the strait?
A sustained Iranian control could permanently alter global shipping patterns, incentivize alternative routes or pipelines, heighten geopolitical tensions, and force regional players to rethink naval capabilities and alliances, potentially fracturing the traditional freedom of the seas as a global norm.
