  • Disappointing

I’ve been listening to you all for a while now and I had hoped you would be more steadfast in your support of the victims from the Epstein Files. Having Jim Jordan on for an extended interview to cover his and Bondi’s butts after that horror show of a hearing is just sincerely disappointing.

  • Finally someone talks about Johnson’s “woman” problem

This has been the case since he forced out Cathy McMorris-Rogers by refusing to pass her signature legislation. He’s undermined women in leadership right and left. No body is reporting on this and Republican women are likely only to speak off-the-record.

  • Phish, GW Basketball, and more!

I always start my morning by listening to Jake and Anna. They’re funny and insightful. No better source for updates on GW basketball and the latest Phsih tour. Oh, and sometimes they talk Congress too (and they know their stuff!). Keep up the great work guys!! I know it’s not easy doing this at 5 AM every day!

  • Misses many insider points

This podcast is 100% left leaning so it is good to hear the Democrat strategies when the host “debates” a Republican rather than interview him that tells it all. mention Schumer's gamble of assigning Chris Murphy to “negotiate” with Republicans and to NOT mention that Chris Murphy is a radical anti-gun and pro-confiscation advocate is terribly misleading and leaves the audience with the wrong impression that the Dems are actually trying to get an agreement. Then you focus on the right who used... more

  • Retired

Love your show, I listen every morning while brushing my teeth :-) even tho I no longer live in DC. Making a comment about Ally's Maine review. Farmington is not considered outside of Portland, it's in rural western Maine, second district. And Bangor is not considered northernmost, that be Presque Isle Maine. The real political and cultural divides are between coastal Maine (elites, usually Dems) and inland/western/northern ME, (lots of Trump and MAGA signs). Might want to talk to a few Mainiacs... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Fly Out Day: Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt on why the U.S. needs Greenland
Q: What about NATO and regional stability—would gaining Greenland affect those dynamics?
Schmitt implies that Greenland would influence Western Hemisphere security and NATO equities, suggesting a recalibration of allied defense commitments and a more assertive U.S. posture in the region.
Fly Out Day: Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt on why the U.S. needs Greenland
Q: Why buy Greenland, and what would that look like in practical terms for defense and diplomacy?
He asserts Greenland's strategic value, including access to minerals and security advantages, and contends the U.S. should be prepared to take a stronger, long-term posture rather than a symbolic nod, while acknowledging diplomatic and alliance considerations.
Fly Out Day: Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt on why the U.S. needs Greenland
Q: You said yesterday in a remark that kind of went viral, you think the United States should be active in pursuing Greenland.
Schmitt argues the U.S. should consider Greenland due to its strategic location, Arctic sea lanes, critical minerals, and the potential to expand U.S. military operations and space-related capabilities.
Readback: The Hill's spring tech bloom
Q: Final AI question. This week, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted out, Democrats should not accept this AI PAC money. What did you make of that and do you think this is a new frontier, a new litmus test for the party?
The guest explains that there are two funding streams—stop-the-state spending and pro-safety spending—and notes that progressives worry money from certain AI groups could still push data-center favors. He suggests watching whether more progressives take up the money, which could signal a broader shift or test for the party.
Fly Out Day: Indiana Sen. Banks on the Iran war and the SAVE Act
Q: What are the political risks and opportunities for the SAVE Act in the current Senate environment?
Banks frames the SAVE Act as a high-priority measure reflecting voter demand for election integrity, with potential paths through reconciliation or year-end CR funding, but notes significant procedural and partisan hurdles before passage.
