I am convinced by this conversation that the development of properly structured peatlands should be prioritized as a way to store carbon.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Investing in nature’s most powerful ecosystems | Tripp Wall, CEO of Pantheon Regeneration
Q: What opportunities do you see for institutional investors in this space, and how do you structure these projects to be bankable?
By applying infrastructure-like financial structuring, securing long-term off-take for carbon credits, and using SPVs to own land with diverse income streams (carbon, water, biodiversity credits, conservation easements), Pantheon builds a robust, risk-adjusted pipeline attractive to banks and large investors.
Investing in nature’s most powerful ecosystems | Tripp Wall, CEO of Pantheon Regeneration
Q: How do you balance methane concerns with peatland restoration, and why is peat advantageous for carbon removal?
Peatlands are unique in that some peat types have negligible methane emissions compared to other wetlands, while offering very high carbon storage potential. Restoration emphasizes rewetting and managing hydrology; methane dynamics are measured but the overall net benefit in carbon removals remains substantial, especially with advanced monitoring.
Investing in nature’s most powerful ecosystems | Tripp Wall, CEO of Pantheon Regeneration
Q: So could you walk us through what the physical work of peatland restoration looks like on the ground?
The work combines desktop screening to identify high-potential parcels using historical data, followed by hydrological engineering to restore water regimes. Engineers design water control structures, install monitoring transducers and gas chambers, and continuously monitor and maintain the system so it becomes self-sustaining with natural rainfall.
Turning homes into grid powerhouses | Vinnie Campo, CEO of Haven Energy
Q: California's NEM 3.0 rules significantly lowered the value of residential solar as a standalone investment. How did that change the homeowners' equation for adding battery storage?
The shift realigned incentives toward storage-rich solutions; more homeowners began to add batteries alongside solar, and Haven adapted by owning and operating the systems to maintain a favorable cost structure and reliable customer experience, while positioning itself to participate in capacity and energy markets.
Rethinking nuclear: from bespoke plants to mass manufacturing reactors | Matt Loszak, CEO of Aalo Atomics
Q: What design considerations went into making the system mass-manufacturable and cost-effective?
The focus is on sodium cooling, atmospheric pressure vessels, DFMA, in-factory assembly of modules, off-the-shelf fuel, and a vertically integrated approach to ensure fit, cost control, and scalable production from the start rather than retrofitting later.
