  • Really informative and I love the diversity of topics

I really love this podcast. I was originally recommended it by Professor in an a class on global environmental change. I listened to it months later into my enjoyment and newfound excitement really got a lot out of these podcasts. If you want a introduction or intermediate understanding of a topic, it is great and I highly recommend it.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Medium Rare: What’s Next For Meat?
Q: How could cultivated meat address climate and sustainability goals in the long term?
Cultivated meat has the potential to deliver similar nutrition and taste with far less land and animal welfare concerns, but achieving energy-efficient production, scalable bioreactor design, and cost reductions are essential before it can replace or substantially supplement conventional meat.
Medium Rare: What’s Next For Meat?
Q: What happened to the early hype around plant-based meats like Impossible and Beyond Meat?
The early buzz faded because, although plant-based options can be 90% less land-intensive and save animals, consumer taste, price parity with beef, and macro-nutrient considerations created a market correction rather than a permanent boom.
Mother is Mothering
Q: What sparked your approach to framing climate action around children's health?
The shift came from recognizing that people respond more to immediate, personal health impacts on children than abstract planetary threats, which helped broaden partnership-building and support for policy, regulation, and community action.
Nancy Pelosi’s Seat is Open. Meet Two Candidates Vying to Succeed Her.
Q: Scott Wiener, how would you use federal authority to address housing costs when housing is often seen as a local issue?
We need to deploy federal financing and policy tools to require dense, transit-friendly zoning, create public financing channels, and support tenants and affordable housing initiatives while encouraging cross-party collaboration where possible.
Nancy Pelosi’s Seat is Open. Meet Two Candidates Vying to Succeed Her.
Q: Shoykat, you're running to succeed Nancy Pelosi. How do you rate her legacy on energy and climate?
She has been a groundbreaking leader, but to go bigger on climate Democrats need to pursue bolder policies like the Green New Deal and industrial policy, and build a broad popular coalition to support large-scale action.
