  • Best of both worlds

Love the format of Jon Benet Tuesdays and DB Cooper Friday. These are 2 of my favorites mysteries. Narrator is well informed on the cases. Wish I had discovered this podcast sooner.

  • Mixed bag

For the critical listener who is mostly just curious, like in a sociological way, about all the unsupported ideas floating around about this and that, it can be a hoot. However, the zealous devotion to D.B. Cooper became tiresome.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Zodiac Killer Debate #1: Was the Zodiac Killer Part of a Group?
Q: If the FBI or SFPD identified a Zodiac suspect other than O'Hare, would Ray accept it?
Ray says he would accept the result only if the method of identification was credible (e.g., scientific or solid documentary proof), and he stresses openness to revision if non-symbolic evidence convincingly ties to another suspect.
Zodiac Killer Debate #1: Was the Zodiac Killer Part of a Group?
Q: What is the evidence that Gareth Penn and Michael O'Hare worked together?
Ray cites threads from Tom Voight's archive and Time 17 to argue a link, while John points out the lack of direct, non-symbolic evidence and notes that the Penn–O'Hare connection remains speculative without concrete documentation.
Zodiac Killer News Report by Gian Quasar - 06/01/2026
Q: Why is the Z13 cipher interpreted with such a specific suspect name, and how solid is that linkage?
Using William Macduff Andrew as an anagram to fit Z13 can appear compelling, but the host notes that this does not fully evade criticisms about pre-selecting a suspect and that it remains a debated, controversial interpretation.
Zodiac Killer News Report by Gian Quasar - 06/01/2026
Q: Do you think the Zodiac Killer pre-chose the Lake Herman Road victims, or were they random targets?
The interviewee emphasizes that the victims were random and that the killer was cruising for targets that night, rather than chasing a pre-determined victim profile.
Zodiac Killer News Report by Gian Quasar - 06/01/2026
Q: What would you say is the biggest misconception that the general public has about the Zodiac Killer?
The biggest misconception is that cold case discussions are dominated by popularized suspect theories; the correct approach emphasizes restoring historical context and following the facts rather than pre-selecting suspects.
