Korean hip hop star Tablo was at the height of his career when a rumor started spreading on the internet that he was a liar. As a trivial accusation explodes into an international obsession, host Dexter Thomas Jr follows a bizarre conspiracy that asks one fundamental question: are we who we say we are? Prepare to skip tons of ads, but the content itself is fascinating. Show presumes familiarity with Tablo’s story, so those unfamiliar with it (like me) would benefit from quickly looking it up on Wikipedia to get the general picture, before diving in. The story is told well; I found it interesting to hear about Tablo’s unique circumstances and how he became a subject of scrutiny, the social context in Korea at the time, how the criminal justice system played a role. Very interesting to look back... more
Powerful true story about adversity - told in first person. Is a great listen
I only know Tablo from RM from BTS & their collaboration on the LP Indigo. A fellow ARMY turned me onto this podcast. This so incredibly sad. I’m so glad Tablo is successful both professionally & personally. No one deserves this. This reinforces the life philosophy that a little kindness goes a long way. “The ax forgets what the tree remembers.” Thank Tablo for being a strong tree.
Tablo, I’m so sorry this happened to you. Vice, thank you for sharing this. I had a similar experience in the early days of the internet as I tried to start a small business, being attacked and maligned by someone I did not know in a way that spilled over into real life. Why do people do this?
To the Korean people who did this to Tablo for nothing, I hope you are ashamed of yourself. Nothing Tablo could’ve done on this topic could’ve been worth the trauma he was out through. Thank you for telling this story. I hope people truly learn from it and become better humans online.
