I always find some part of another’s story that I connect with here. Thank you for sharing these stories, their lives, and giving us a place to talk about our loved ones.
I love this podcast. I’m an Episcopal priest and prison chaplain—and grief is the cost of being human and loving. Everything is lost, eventually; but awe and joy are real too. I teach grief classes and often recommend this podcast to my students. Thank you Anderson for this great gift.
My death of grief means many things to me. Seeing three crows when l’m driving kills my grief.
My dad died at age 46, brother from suicide died at age 24. I was 19 & 21 when those deaths occurred. I took care of my dad from age 9 until his death. The only thing that mattered to me during those ten years was me keeping him alive.
My brother and I saw you at Kent Stark in Ohio. You spoke of your book and mesmerized us all. Maybe one day I can speak to you about how I “kill” grief often. Metaph... more
I find Anderson’s raw emotion comforting. Now I know that sounds bad, however, hearing and feeling someone else grieving is proof that my aligned feelings are normal and to be expected. Hearing that grief will be with you forever has also shifted my thoughts of “getting over it” but rather working out how to feel all the emotions of grief and living with them. There is nothing to “get over”.
Argh..my grief began in 1972. My beloved brother Ben burned to death in a mva. My youngest brother Rick survived. 2 months in Mass General Burn Unit. Permanently facially disfigured at 16 years of age. I was 19. I took it all on for my parents. Visited Rick daily. I’m the one who told him his brother had died. Me n a psychiatrist in attendance. Im the one who learned how to do his dressings before he came home.
