  • Thank you

    These talks are so important.

My dad died at the end of April 2020 (Dr. Harvey Hirsch). The biggest lesson I’ve learnt is that there’s no timeline,Grief is not linear, and there’s no right way to grieve. It isn’t something to get over - it needs to be witnessed.

There will always be a hole in the middle of the room and at some point, eventually you will learn how to walk around it

  • Sarah Wildman

Currently listening to your interview with Sarah Wildman, she mentioned wishing she had a recording of her daughter calling her Ima … Mommy. I recently lost my husband and I’m shocked to realise “recently” is actually coming up on 3 years - I like Sarah, wish I had a recording of him saying my name. He had a nickname for me that I’m never going to hear again 🥺 I’ve never lost a child, I’ve lost my husband and my mother both heart breaking experiences - loosing a child would literally rip me i... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Isaiah Thomas: The Loneliness of Grief
Q: What message would you give to listeners who are grieving now?
Stay connected with others, allow yourself to be emotional, seek support, and understand that moving forward does not mean forgetting those you've lost; you can carry them with you in everyday life.
Isaiah Thomas: The Loneliness of Grief
Q: What helped you cope with grief over time?
Lean on others, seek counseling, talk openly, and allow yourself to feel, not just push forward; sharing stories publicly also provided a sense of purpose and connection for him and perhaps others going through similar pain.
Sarah Wildman: Let Grief Be Messy
Q: What would you tell someone who is newly navigating the loss of a child about dealing with the messiness of grief?
Let grief be messy and don't worry about making others comfortable with your process. Grief will evolve, and it's important to allow yourself to feel and express it, while also finding small, sustaining moments of beauty and connection that honor the loved one's life.
Sarah Wildman: Let Grief Be Messy
Q: How has the experience of caregiving and grief changed your view on memory and recording moments?
I wish we had recorded more of those moments, especially the late summers when she felt relatively well. Keeping recordings and writing down conversations feels essential because it preserves her voice and presence, offering a way to revisit her energy and wisdom long after she's gone.
Sarah Wildman: Let Grief Be Messy
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about Orli and what made her so remarkable?
Orli was an extraordinary child who loved life—she was on a basketball team, loved to surf, and found joy in books like Harry Potter. Her resilience and curiosity persisted even through intense illness, and she frequently sought connection, understanding, and even humor in the face of fear. Her spirit shaped her family's approach to grief, memory, and legacy.
