The show is great when there’s just genuine conversation. With some guests, like Will Ferrell, the laughter was constant & seemed so forced, even when nothing funny was being discussed. Amy has mentioned that people always expect her to be funny irl, and she’s not, however it’s exactly what she does to her guests that are comedians. Trying to force jokes and laughter. Funny people are also multidimensional, let’s not limit them to being laughingstocks.

I generally find it difficult to listen to interviews without getting second-hand embarrassment for no reason at all, but this one almost always feels so lively and natural and lighthearted, like, Amy just seems to have this natural chemistry with any guests and the questions are usually so entertaining and interesting. Would really like a full-length interview with Lin Manuel-Miranda.
