  • Amazing insights

Loving the relevant insights and deep cuts on the specialty coffee movement! Begun in the Covid-era, it’s interesting to gain insights through earlier episodes from operators as they were navigating that time and to see how the pod has evolved to incorporate more of the global movement of quality coffee is much appreciated as well. Cheers!

  • It’s alright

I listen now and then and like the topics covered but sometimes the balance is a little one sided. Take the most recent episode, none of the detail being mentioned by these brands was challenged. A pod machine having a lower footprint than a kettle, okay fine, but what goes into making that plastic machine that only brews one type of pod and has no other use and what’s its lifespan in comparison to a kettle. I just think a broader look into subjects could be better, rather than a sales pitch for... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Understanding consumer behaviour
Q: How has consumer behavior evolved in New York City, and what does the mix of beverages look like now?
Journalists and operators noted that beverage offerings have shifted from a pure coffee focus to a broader, experiential menu including matcha, non-caffeinated options, and innovative flavor combinations, driven by a more diverse younger audience who is willing to spend more for quality and experience.
Understanding consumer behaviour
Q: What does it mean to understand the customer philosophically, and what is the main objective?
The objective is to be specific about what you offer so you can tailor your product and experience to a clearly defined customer type, rather than trying to serve everyone, which dilutes the brand and harms consistency.
Spotlight on Slow Coffee Festival in Bucharest
Q: What are the festival's future ambitions?
To establish a standalone festival entity with a dedicated team and to host an international competition in Romania, signaling deeper global engagement and collaboration across the sector.
Spotlight on Slow Coffee Festival in Bucharest
Q: What is the significance of the B2B day and country pavilions?
The B2B day provides dedicated time for business matchmaking, while country pavilions and producer stalls bring producers closer to roasters and help demonstrate the origin and culture of the coffees, not just the product.
Spotlight on Slow Coffee Festival in Bucharest
Q: How did Slow Coffee Festival start and evolve over the years?
It began as a small platform to promote the brands they distributed and grew into a regional event with a strong community focus, eventually adding the Aeropress Championships and expanding into a larger, more professional B2B-friendly platform.
