  • Game Changer!

The way that Dr. Doll has actually (No, like literally actually) changed my career by way of empowering my thinking and giving PRACTICAL and testable skills is unmatched. And y’all- that’s just the podcast. I fully believe that I’d be floating 2-3 millimeters off the ground with strategies and confidence if the coaching program (but alas, she’s a hard money girl). Do yourself a favor…this podcast is Ev👏🏽ry👏🏽thing.

Kemi’s wisdom is the advice, mentorship and coaching no one in academic medicine ever gave you but it is exactly what we all need and deserve. I am so grateful for a this podcast that changes the expectations of what all of our careers should be- daring, fulfilling, balanced, rested, adventurous and so much more than what we have all settled for in the past. • Kemi changed my life

It’s Tuesday morning and I am SO excited because I know another episode has dropped. I listen on the drive into work and walking from car to office, and always start my work day feeling ready to conquer the world - sometimes with high level vision inspiring me, sometimes super practical tips for dealing with mayhem in academia, and other times just grateful for the pod community that I know I am part of when listening to Kemi.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

228 Doctor to Doctor: A Black OBGYN Reacts to A Terrible Strength with The Lady Parts Doctor
Q: Why did you choose to title your book A Terrible Strength, and how does this idea translate into practical advocacy for patients and clinicians?
A Terrible Strength honors the perseverance of Black women while acknowledging the cost to health and joy; the book provides tools, stories, and data-driven steps to advocate for oneself and to transform clinical care, including checklists and clear communication.
228 Doctor to Doctor: A Black OBGYN Reacts to A Terrible Strength with The Lady Parts Doctor
Q: For our listeners, can you speak on why endometrial cancer disparities exist and how the diagnostic paradigm has failed Black women?
The risk-based approach now recognizes that Black women experience higher mortality due to delayed diagnosis, not simply biology; guidelines have shifted to consider race and associated risk factors, moving away from a one-size-fits-all threshold.
226 Womb Wisdom: Your Excellence Is Not Enough: Dr. Kemi Doll on Madame Speaker Says
Q: What motivated you to start IKANA and later shift to a survivor-led model with Econa?
Seeing the data about Black women and uterine cancer plus the lack of community advocacy made me feel compelled to act with the community, ensuring research, care, and resources were accessible and led by those most affected.
226 Womb Wisdom: Your Excellence Is Not Enough: Dr. Kemi Doll on Madame Speaker Says
Q: When did you realize that stepping into authority required more than excellence?
I realized it during a late fellowship moment when a colleague warned me I would make others look bad; it showed me that hard work isn't universally interpreted the same way, and I had to define what my excellence meant.
211 {BONUS} Womb Wisdom: Fertility & Choice with Dr. Jamie Knopman
Q: At what age is it just completely ridiculous to freeze eggs?
There isn't a clear cutoff, but generally it's advised against freezing eggs in your mid-40s due to low success rates and potential ethical concerns about exploiting patients.
