Since I heard Dirty John, I began fiending for more of Goffard’s wonderfully thorough investigating and reporting. I thought the well had run dry and was in withdrawal for a good podcast when I was sucked into The Trials of Frank Carson. It took until episode three before I was fully invested, but despite the immense frustration I felt through the story, I could not turn away. More than once, I shed a couple tears and “what the ****s?” while listening on the train to work. Goffard has a very ope... more
This was deeply personal for me. My 23 yr nephew was also framed by a DA after two people died in an accident when his friend’s motorcycle collided with a car and the DA chose to scapegoat him by charging him with double vehicular homicide and misc other offenses adding up to 36 years in prison, even though he was 1/4 mile behind his friend and not involved in anyway. Needless to say, he was acquitted by the jury in 45 minutes but they stole 4 1/2 years of his young life, my brother and his wife... more
Awesome podcast!
But at the same time it makes me so upset😭😭😭😭😭
Laughably one-sided. Like its titular “protagonist” this podcast lacks self-awareness and empathy. Repeated cruel characterizations of the murdered Korey Kauffman as nothing more than a tweaker and a thief make clear Goffard has forgotten that he was the real victim in this case, not the lying defence attorney.
The USA holds itself up as a paragon of justice & human rights.
But the many stories like this, the revilations that most of the so called science used to convict people is flawed & the way defendants are forced into pleas disgusts me and belies the fairness of a justice system that ruins lives & is unethical to an extent that I find horrifieing and completely unjust that makes me so damb angry... Prosecutors and DA's are crookeder than the crooks & belong in jail for decades for what they do..... more
