  • Great Great Podcast

The Photo Banter Podcast makes my day so many times. How Alex is asking questions and having fun about the talk is magic. I am a German photographer and the personal insights are great and uplifting. The last ones I heard are Benedict Evans and Alec Soth. But I heard so many good ones 🥰 Big recommendation !!!

Alex has a way of asking the right questions. The photographers interviewed share their experience, and also details on how they got to where they are, some of their mistakes and a lot on their creative process. I walk away with new knowledge everytime I listen. Great podcast!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Nat Butler
Q: How do you navigate being the photographer while building relationships with athletes?
There is a line there; I have a job to do, but it's more of it's hard to put it into words. It's a feel for things.
Nat Butler
Q: How does it feel to kind of have this book out now and look at 40 years of photography?
It's nuts. First of all, I can't believe that it's been that long because I'm still excited every day to go to work.
Michelle Mishina
Q: Is it kind of hard to jump back into that hard-hitting journalism stuff when you don't do it all the time?
I think that the hard part is more the pace of it, like the quick turnarounds.
Michelle Mishina
Q: What was the assignment and what in The New York Times did they kind of direct you on what they wanted you to do?
The assignment was related to immigration enforcement’s impact on coffee farms, and it evolved as I learned more about the situation.
Michelle Mishina
Q: How's the year been going since I talked to you in January?
It's been going well. I'm actually quite relieved that it didn't record because that was my first experience ever with a podcast or any kind of like interview format in this way.
