  • Unhelpful and Noisy

I tried to listen to this podcast but a couple of things jumped out pretty quickly. They don’t really have knowledge to pass along, it’s seems to be articles that she reads and then fumbles through. She’s not articulate and fumbles the point so that you’re left wondering what the point was. On a lesser note, her extreme gulping sounds are terrible to listen to on a podcast. She gulps liquidly and frequently and it makes you want tot turn it off repeatedly

Empty Nest Reminder...Your Young Adult’s Success Isn’t Always Linear - Joanna Lilley - E119
Q: So Joanna, you told a story of maybe not being quite as ready for school as you might wish to have been. What should happen when a young adult is not launching in a way that's thriving?
Approach it reactively by recognizing signs early and proactively by planning supports, including buffering the student with mentors or coaches, and having conversations that explore their plan and next steps rather than reacting with panic.
Enhancing Empty Nest Communication with Raffi Bilek – E116
Q: What should couples do when they can't agree or solve an issue right away, especially in the empty-nest period?
The goal should be to explore and understand the problem first, then decide on next steps, recognizing that some issues may not be fully resolvable but can still maintain a strong partnership.
Enhancing Empty Nest Communication with Raffi Bilek – E116
Q: What are the foundations to get to the point where you feel okay expressing negative or conflict-oriented emotion?
Raffi describes a two-part approach: validate each other's feelings first and then work toward understanding the impact, not just who is right, so couples stay connected even when disagreements persist.
A Different Version Of The Empty Nest with Shara and Aaron Goswick - E131
Q: What advice would you give to parents entering the empty-nest phase?
Invest in your relationship, define your identities beyond parenthood, and remember that you can still pursue individual goals while supporting your kids and family.
A Different Version Of The Empty Nest with Shara and Aaron Goswick - E131
Q: How did you stay connected as a couple after your kids grew up and left home?
We prioritized regular time together, including weekly date nights, and learned to listen, communicate, and support each other's dreams without losing sight of our marriage.
