  • True Crime Lite

I used to love true crime podcasts, but after suffering from panic attacks, I was advised to stop listening. Then I found The Dating Detectives: a perfectly non-gory collection of true crime stories. Mackenzie and Hanna are amazing at treating their guests with respect while encouraging listeners to ditch the “perfect victim” mentality. While guests are usually women, it is abundantly clear that dogfish can affect anyone. The Dating Detectives does a fantastic job of spotlighting cautionary tale... more

  • My new pod besties

I found Makenzie’s videos a couple years ago and of course fell in love with her personality then discovered the pod pretty recently. It makes me feel so much better about my less than spectacular dating history. Oh boy do I have a story to submit. It makes the long nights at work go by so much faster and let me tell you the tea is always piping hot!

  • Complicated

I really do love listening to this show…hearing from the folks who have experienced this is great…but the AAVE that McKenzie uses is beyond offensive and obnoxious. I wish she would stop and reflect, I want to keep listening to this podcast!

  • Fun and mindless entertainment

So I started hate listening after I heard about the whole Turkish rug episode controversy and then they slowly won me over. Don’t get me wrong, I do think they behaved poorly and the apology was even worse but I desperately needed something to listen to when I clean house and want to drown out my kids. The episodes are entertaining and the stories are crazy, some episodes probably embellished a little or a lot but whatever. So while every damn podcast is behind a paywall now I am having a hard t... more

  • Workout partner—

Take the show to the gym, put in earbuds- I constantly add 20 more minutes on the elliptical because I can’t stop listening. Often cautionary tales - that can be empowering.
