Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

CJI Podcast #40: James Chitty | Talon Air | 'Everyday I speak to the captain of an industry'
Q: How has the buyout changed decision-making and agility at Talon Air?
Since taking ownership, the company is more nimble and able to act without external influence, while retaining key personnel and maintaining strong relationships with major clients like Vista.
CJI Podcast #40: James Chitty | Talon Air | 'Everyday I speak to the captain of an industry'
Q: What experiences shaped your approach today at Talon Air?
He emphasizes a learning mindset and staying curious, noting that every day involves speaking with leaders across different industries and that understanding diverse client needs keeps the business dynamic.
CJI Podcast #40: James Chitty | Talon Air | 'Everyday I speak to the captain of an industry'
Q: Tell us a bit about your background and what drew you to aviation.
James describes a pathway from finance and brokerage into charter, where the transactional nature and direct owner relationships attracted him, with a focus on practical, end-to-end trip execution rather than long bureaucratic processes.
CJI Podcast #39: Mike Mikolay | Mikolay Jet Group | “Having the ability to say no is critical"
Q: Okay, let's start. Before we go into you, how is the jet market at the moment? If I want to buy a jet, am I in control or is it a seller's market?
The market is a seller's market for near-new and new jets due to low inventory and strong demand, especially in the long-range and ultra long-range categories; for older aircraft, the market can tilt more towards buyers depending on model and age.
CJI Podcast #12 | Garett Jerde | JetHQ | "Do what you say you're going to do"
Q: When did you decide you wanted to get into aircraft sales?
Garrett describes a trajectory starting with a Raytheon internship, experiences flying and delivering airplanes, and a realization during a downturn that corporate aviation offered a more dynamic path; this culminated in the move to Dubai and founding JetHQ.
