  • Informative, useful but erratic volume

As a practicing bodyworker, I find this podcast informative and useful, but the podcast volume equalization seems to be absent. Interview/interviewee voices come in at different volumes, sometimes very quiet and sometimes super loud.

    Very distracting.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Kaitlyn Kelly: Women's International Hockey (EP199)
Q: What advice would you give younger therapists aiming to work in pro or national sport?
Get involved wherever possible, seek mentorship, start in grassroots roles, and build a network through pathways like the CSMTA. Focus on learning the sport-specific dynamics, communication with coaches and staff, and gradually take on roles that expand your scope without overextending yourself.
Kaitlyn Kelly: Women's International Hockey (EP199)
Q: Can you explain how a typical day looks on World Championship duty and how your role fits into the team?
On days with World Championships, treatment blocks are scheduled around meals and team activities. Therapists set up in a hotel-room clinic, manage 15–20 minute sessions, and support athletes during pregame warmups, intermissions, and postgame recovery, with coordination among doctors, ATs, and S&C staff.
Kaitlyn Kelly: Women's International Hockey (EP199)
Q: What first drew you to hockey and athletic work, and how did you get your start?
Kaitlyn grew up as an athlete and found early exposure to sport through being a student trainer at Laurier, which sparked an interest in treating athletes. She gradually moved from kinesiology toward massage therapy as the best fit to support athlete care and maintenance.
Steve Ferrel: Creativity, perspective & taking the first step (EP202)
Q: What does a small first step look like in practice?
A practical approach is to set low-hanging-fruit goals, like making a tiny, concrete move toward a valued behavior, and celebrating every toward move as progress toward the life you want, while recognizing when to back off and rest to maintain momentum.
Steve Ferrel: Creativity, perspective & taking the first step (EP202)
Q: How does ACT help people move from recognizing thoughts to actually changing behavior or taking action in their lives?
They discuss six core processes as a toolkit: present moment attention, self as context, acceptance, diffusion, values, and committed actions. By training these skills, individuals can view thoughts as transient and act in alignment with what matters most, even in difficult circumstances.
