#0016 - The Future of Beauty: What Salons Need to Know About AI, Brands & Survival
Q: When you think about the future of AI and things like that, like are you guys investing in anything, like, I don't know, a nail Salon robot?
Samantha sees AI as useful for some tasks but says it cannot color or cut hair or do nails. She expects ongoing demand for skilled, hands-on services and advises salon professionals to focus on doing good work.
#0016 - The Future of Beauty: What Salons Need to Know About AI, Brands & Survival
Q: What worries you about the future of the industry? Is there anything that you think, shit, we need to really get on top of this?
Samantha says distributors need to understand local markets and maintain close relationships with salon customers. She believes manufacturers going direct can miss important market knowledge and that hands-on beauty services will remain valuable despite AI.
#0020 - Why Are So Many People Suddenly Losing Their Hair?
Q: And sorry, as you scale, how do you think you're going to personally balance that ethos versus the scalability?
Cooper says Glowwa has grown organically without outside investment. She listens directly to salons, reversed a shipping fee after hearing it created problems for smaller businesses, and intends to scale without compromising the company's values.
#0020 - Why Are So Many People Suddenly Losing Their Hair?
Q: And why do you think, I mean, we've all seen hair loss really become an issue. ... Why is that? Why is it becoming such an issue?
Cooper attributes increasing hair loss to stress, ultra-processed diets, inflammation, environmental chemicals and hormonal imbalances. She also discusses hair loss associated with GLP-1 weight-loss injections, which can leave the body nutritionally depleted.
#0019 - Wendy Tarplee-Morris - The Haircut That Changed Thousands of Children’s Lives
Q: What do salons need to do to get involved and help people donate their hair?
Salons can learn the charity's donation guidelines, encourage clients to grow hair to a suitable length, and request a support pack. Salons offering free donation haircuts can sign up as a hairdressing hero and be listed on the charity's salon finder.
