I'm a person sincerely interested in seeking religious truth, for years I studied and did my best to seek out the truth about God's existence, the existence and nature of the afterlife and which religion might be true and/or endorsed by God. At the end of my searching, I came to the conclusion that Christianity is the religion that God wants me to follow and believe. I hope to help other "real see... more

  • How does this not have tons of 5star reviews

This podcast is phenomenal. Episodes thoroughly examine Christian themes in exquisite detail. One of my favorites. Recommended if you enjoy deep dives into topics/ examining technical and theological aspects of Christianity. God bless them for the wonderful work!

  • Sort the sound out…

Great, thoughtful and incisive show. The term ‘deep dive’ perhaps best describes the context of how the show is delivered. Anyone looking for thorough investigation into theological topics, go no further than here. Definitely a 5 star podcast.

But, as always a couple of critiques. Firstly, can you please sort the sound editing out. Particularly when there are guests. Dale is always quieter than the guests, so you have to keep adjusting volume (on Apple Podcasts anyway. Secondly, could we have L... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Is "Trinity Monotheism" Logically & Metaphysically Coherent (Jake Brancatella vs Dale Glover)
Q: If there are three divine persons, how can there be a single will to avoid necessary agreement problems?
The argument turns on whether the Trinity actually requires three distinct wills or if a single divine will suffices within the monotheistic framework; the debaters debate whether a single will is orthodox or whether three coeternal wills are required to avoid polytheism.
Debating the Historical and Shroud Evidence for Jesus' Resurrection (w/ Juan of Modern Atheism)
Q: What is the probability that God would perform this miracle given He exists, and how should we set the prior?
The prior probability is argued to be around 50-50 in the religious-authenticating reference class, because there are plausible reasons to think God would or would not perform such a miracle; the debate centers on what counts as a sufficiently religious motive and the best reference class.
Debating the Historical and Shroud Evidence for Jesus' Resurrection (w/ Juan of Modern Atheism)
Q: Do you want me to respond to the humane argument first and then the twin theory or vice versa?
We should first address how Hume's miracles argument is interpreted, then discuss the plausibility of miracles given natural explanations, and finally compare the twin theory as a hypothetical device to illustrate a point about priors.
Addressing Jewish Myths about Christianity (w/ historian Allan Ruhl)
Q: What is the core historical critique Jews often make about Christian history, and how do you respond to it?
The core critique is that Christians persecuted Jews for two millennia; my response is that while there were violent episodes, they were not a uniform, church-sponsored policy across the entire period, and many instances show defense or mitigation by church authorities, indicating a more nuanced history.
Shroud Wars: Incredible Typology Concerning the Shroud in the Letter to the Hebrews (Larry Stalley)
Q: What guidelines would you offer for credible typology without overreaching beyond the text?
Contextual grounding is essential: respect the immediate text, acknowledge multiple potential types, and clearly distinguish between types and subtypes while noting how the larger narrative supports the proposed typology.
