  • Just an ad

Just an ad disguised as a podcast. More interested in selling his book then giving actual good information.

  • Invaluable information

This is by far the best short-to-medium length financial planning resource I’ve found online. I’ve learned more after a week listening than my whole life prior, no joke. Anthony Saccaro is a very personable, humble guy but you can tell he’s been around and really knows his stuff. Just ordered the book!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Set It and Forget It? Not in Retirement
Q: Susan in Redondo Beach asks whether being invested like in one's 40s is still appropriate as she nears retirement.
The host notes that pre-retirement years are critical for transitioning from growth to income planning; risk should be evaluated differently as retirement nears, and waiting until after retirement to adjust can limit options. The takeaway is to shift toward income stability and plan adjustments before retirement.
Set It and Forget It? Not in Retirement
Q: Daniel in Rancho Cucamonga asks if staying the course is really the right approach after retirement.
The host explains that it is normal to feel uneasy when markets drop, but staying the course is not always appropriate in retirement. The emphasis should shift to building an income-focused plan that accounts for withdrawals, timing, and the need for predictable income, rather than relying on market timing alone.
3 Keys to Smarter Retirement Tax Planning
Q: What should I draw from first when I have both Social Security and Roth/traditional IRAs?
It depends on your tax picture each year; often it makes sense to start with taxable or Roth sources to allow traditional IRAs to shrink and lower future RMDs, though this can vary with market conditions and brackets.
3 Keys to Smarter Retirement Tax Planning
Q: Do RMDs apply to Roth IRAs while you're alive?
No. RMDs do not apply to Roth IRAs during the owner's lifetime, which is why Roth conversions can be used to shift income into tax-free territory and preserve flexibility.
Planning Ahead: A Thanksgiving Lesson for Retirement
Q: Is it too late to reorganize accounts for income when retiring soon?
Absolutely not; you can still consolidate, plan withdrawals, manage taxes, and align accounts to generate reliable income even if retirement is near.
