  • Solid info, but a bit hoity-toity

Information is always well-presented, but not sure how in touch with average Americans these guys are. They tend to shame listeners who ask questions and don’t “know better”, which is off-putting. Not everyone has had the same opportunities in life that you two have had, but we’re all trying. Maybe tone down some of the privileges that you’ve enjoyed in your life as well, like trips to Disney World just to get away from bad weather, going to the Masters Tournament, etc. It’s obviously your po... more

  • Unplayable on IPhone

This is by far my favorite show and I’ve followed them for a long time. My main reason for adding this review is to hopefully get the team to reach out to Apple. I’ve reported my concern with Apple Podcasts multiple times the last year but nothing has been done. Each time I try to play an episode it tells me that it cannot be played on this device (IPhone 17 Pro). I worry there are many others who want to listen to this show but are being stopped by apples bugs.

  • I used to really enjoy The Money Guy podcast, especially the Financial Order of Operations. For a while, it felt like one of the more practical and grounded personal finance shows out there. Unfortunately, the recent episodes have made it harder for me to take their advice seriously. What’s changed for me is that their guidance feels a lot more subjective than it used to. Not unsubscribing yet, but less enthusiastic about their content than I used to be.

  • A good show for the 20 and 30’s crowd

I’ve listened to these folks for a while. They stick to their script which could be very helpful for someone starting out. I am really older and on the other end of the curve than the audience they aim for but for good old southern banter when you’re driving it’s good.

  • Modern Dave Ramsey [UPDATE]

[3 months later, and there has been nothing new, nothing insightful. Their new show is a watered down Ramit Sethi.]

I don’t think I have learned a single thing from this show in years. It’s the same stuff, constantly regurgitated, with nothing new or insightful. Like Dave Ramsey, it’s a “my way or the highway” show. Fortunately, TMG recognize where Ramsey is flat-out wrong. Unfortunately, TMG have their own shortcomings in approach and philosophy. To be honest, their whole purpose seems to be h... more

Everyday Investors Are Beating Fund Managers (Copy Their Strategy)
Q: First question from Ben K.: with a mortgage, should I pay down PMI early given a down payment of 18% and a loan at 4.99%?
Evaluate the cost of the extra down payment against the long-term benefit of removing PMI versus opportunities like funding Roth IRAs or other investments; if the PMI removal saves enough to justify, and the math shows a reasonable payoff period, it can be worth it, but consider your broader goals and ensure you don't miss the employer match or other tax-advantaged opportunities.
Average Salary By Age (How Do You Stack Up?)
Q: Is it a bad idea to buy a house with a friend? What should I consider?
House hacking can work if you clearly define roles, have a formal agreement, and plan for life changes; otherwise, separate ownership and risk sharing can create administrative and financial complications. Consider partnership structures, operating agreements, and end goals before co-purchasing.
Why These Things Aren’t Worth Your Money (Feat. Erin Talks Money)
Q: If you're in your 20s or 30s with debt or near-term big expenses, how should you approach big purchases like weddings or cars?
Discuss with your partner, evaluate opportunity costs, and use the wealth multiplier tool to model the true cost of liquidating assets versus funding emergencies; avoid debt for one-time events when possible.
Why These Things Aren’t Worth Your Money (Feat. Erin Talks Money)
Q: How do you decide what's actually worth it versus lifestyle creep in a season with many unknowns?
Prioritize the basics first—emergency reserves, employer match, Roth IRA funding—and then lean into experiences or items that you personally value, making sure the basics aren't neglected.
From Broke in Their 30s to Millionaires in Their 50s | Making a Millionaire
Q: How did you approach the initial purchases and financing of your first properties?
They started with FHA and small down payments, moved to 20% down on their second home to avoid PMI, and used a mix of live-in, fix-up, and later investment properties, including self-directed IRA funding for Gatlinburg.
