I listen to a lot of retirement podcasts. I’m listen to them while I’m trying to go to sleep, but I have to stop doing that for this podcast because it kept me awake because I liked it so much. This is a really great podcast for people who want to get a better sense of practical issues that people who are retiring face. I do wish they had more people who have less than 5 million net worth but it’s still interesting to listen to.
Joe, Al, and Andi make a fantastic podcast (as do the others who pull it all together). I’ve been listening to them weekly for more than 3 years now. I’m still enjoying the side stories (Al’s Hawaiian vacations especially) and as I become more comfortable with the lingo I see why I appreciate their perspectives. We’ve worked hard to understand our financial future and likely needs, and their spit-ball analysis paints a picture of enjoying the fruits of that hard work. Keep it up!
Love the model of reviewing real people’s finances and they do keep it fun. Hard to agree with the less than 2% safe withdrawal rates in early retirement especially after listening to many other financial podcasts. I think they have a tough time understanding many people in the real world can be flexible in their spending & may be reducing their proposed SWR in order to account for the 1% fee in their AUM model.
These guys are funny and informative but their advice is VERY conservative going with 2-3% withdrawal rate when even the 4% rule is already too conservative. Even the guy who created the 4% rule said it was too conservative. There’s plenty of evidence that people who do that die with a lot of money leftover. Also wish they would do less scenarios where people have huge pensions or fixed income.
One of my favorite podcasts, financial or otherwise. Love the no-filler, no-ads - just financial “spitballs”. Thanks!

A conversational finance show that blends practical retirement planning, tax strategies, and investing with humor and banter. Hosts tackle real listener scenarios, offering math-driven analyses on topics like Roth conversions, Social Security timing, long-term care, and house-holding expenses, often using case studies to illustrate trade-offs and risk. Noteworthy is the consistent reliance on audience questions, a fiduciary stance from a fee-only advisor firm, and a distinctive lighthearted approach that aims to educate without overwhelming beginners. The format is particularly helpful for listeners nearing or planning retirement, those seeking tax-efficient strategies, and individuals who enjoy approachable explanations of complex financia... more
