A really good podcast on a subject that deserves more attention hosted by two excellent historians who really know the subject and with some great guests. I particularly enjoyed the series with Arran Johnston on the Jacobite Rising of 1745 and Tom Golding-Lee on the failed British expedition to Cartagena. Looking forward to more.
Without a doubt the best podcast for learning about 18th-century military history. If you love the era of powdered wigs, dazzling uniforms, swords, and cannon blasts then this is for you. The panel of hosts are both incredibly knowledgeable in their field and very funny. They bring on a wide array of equally qualified guests to explore this fantastic period. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
A few months into their foray into podcasting, the hosts of this show are really finding their stride. Highly recommend the naval episode with Dr Cavell (kudos for highlighting the work of a female military historian) and the two episodes done so far on the Jacobite rising of 1745.
Covering all topics about warfare in the 18th century, the hosts delve into the leaders, the doctrines, the nations, and the conflicts. While the focus has been on Europe and North America, they have also brought in some outside expertise to talk about conflicts in other parts of the world. It's been fascinating and fills a void perfect for anyone looking for insight into events from Marlborough to Frederick, from the War of the Austrian Succession to the American Revolutionary War.
