Great information, approachable tone. Lovely podcast.
This podcast really brings the napoleonic period to life with fascinating details and a narrative that’s both well paced. The host is passionate about the period and has a genuine infectious curiosity that made me remember why I listen to history podcasts.
The patreon episodes are also super worth listening to for background, but the host has really gone out of their way to make the main story complete without them.
Seriously an excellent show that’s basically single handedly convinced me to ... more
I love his style of storytelling. It’s incredibly clear that narratives, context, and characters are extremely well researched. What’s even more impressive is that it does not come at the expense of engaging storytelling. I admittedly am a history nerd, but I finish episodes wanting more and have binged this entire series over the course of a month. One of my very favorite podcasts ever.
Truly an outstanding podcast - a fascinating story, superbly told with just the right balance of objectivity and personal interpretation. Impeccably researched and unfailingly engaging.
While podcasts will always vary in quality, The Age of Napoleon is the only one I’ve found (so far) that’s easily worth paying extra for. (In fact, the Patreon subscription is an outright bargain.) I’ve never been particularly interested in Napoleon, but this podcasts is engrossing, peppered with human details, and narrated with an obvious passion for the subject.
