  • Fascinating analysis of the Greek states of the ancient Mediterranean

My new favourite podcast. As a lifelong history fan and collector of ancient coins, this series is a must for anyone interested in ancient history: superb narration, excellent interviews with subject specialists - and a constant reminder that truth can often be stranger than fiction.

The career of Alexander the Great, the turmoil caused by his early death, and the evolution of the Diadochi kingdoms created by his commanders are explored in great detail, with constant references to primary sour... more

  • Fantastic content / Mediocre delivery

Well researched and informative history podcast on a fascinating and neglected era. In addition, I appreciate the lack of ideology. Just history here.

However, the host reads from a script with a monotone delivery. An unnecessarily low volume also detracts from the overall podcast quality.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

100: Q&A #2 - Electric Boogaloo
Q: Of the original successors, who would you consider to be the true heir of Alexander?
The true heir was Alexander IV, but of course, that wasn't the question. My answer would have to be Seleucus as well.
100: Q&A #2 - Electric Boogaloo
Q: What do you think the Hellenistic world would become without the rise of Rome?
I would bet my money on the Seleucid Empire being the dominant power.
100: Q&A #2 - Electric Boogaloo
Q: When are you going to make more reading guides?
Soon. I currently have three guides, one on the Ptolemies, one on the Seleucids, and one on Greco-Bactrian and Indo-Greeks.
100: Q&A #2 - Electric Boogaloo
Q: What has been your favorite place of visits so far?
If I were to pick one spot from each visit, it would probably go something a little like this. In Italy, Rome speaks for itself. There's so much to explore here, and the museums are incredible.
100: Q&A #2 - Electric Boogaloo
Q: Did you ever feel any type of imposter syndrome related to being new to the scene, or because you do not feel qualified enough to do a podcast?
To be honest, I've never really had a sense of imposter syndrome from my work.
