I would have hoped that is accepted practice by now…. if you know that the audio you are getting from archival source is going to be inaudible, and you’re not able to clean it to a acceptable level, then please please please…
You have to repeat and clarify what is being said on the recording for your audience. We are completely lost otherwise. And if there’s a question of whether it is clear or not, that means it is not clear enough.

When a podcast’s first episode is telling you all about how this is a wrongful conviction before even laying out the basic facts of the case, you know it’s trash. The interpretation and analysis should come after presenting the evidence, allowing listeners to form their own interpretation. This felt incredibly heavy-handed, more like a release from the guy’s legal team than anything else. The writer here needs to be less obvious with their agenda

This podcast was a prime example of everything that is wrong with wrongful conviction podcasts. Had Maggie approached this case objectively rather than assuming David’s innocence, she’d have a bit more credibility, and I wouldn’t be here giving a negative review. I’m glad she got it right in the end, and I hope other podcast hosts like Bob Ruff take note that it’s okay to admit you spent a season (or multiple seasons) trying to prove innocence but were wrong.
