  • Research based

I have listened to this show long before it was in podcast form. Martin Tanner is a thourogh researcher of a topic, and puts it into concise form for his listeners. His recent episode on the religious historic beliefs on a Heavenly Mother was facinating. His podcast also re- introduced me to near-death experiences (NDE). I typically listen to an episode as soon as it begins available.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Book of Abraham With Martin and Prof. Kerry Muhlestein, PhD, Egyptologist
Q: What is the strongest case for the Book of Abraham being connected to authentic ancient sources rather than a modern invention?
The strongest case rests on multiple lines: strong alignment of names and places with ancient Near Eastern geography (e.g., Olishem near Ur), corroboration from eyewitnesses about the translation process, and the way the text and its themes consistently fit broader ancient contexts when examined with Egyptology and linguistics; these factors collectively support authenticity beyond a purely modern invention.
The Book of Abraham With Martin and Prof. Kerry Muhlestein, PhD, Egyptologist
Q: Where did the papyri connected to the Book of Abraham come from, and what was the path that brought them to Kirtland, Ohio?
The papyri and related artifacts traveled from Egypt during a period of colonial antiquities trade, ending up in Europe, then being shipped to the United States and ultimately arriving in Kirtland, Ohio, where Joseph Smith encountered and acquired them; their journey is tied to Napoleonic expeditions and 19th-century collecting networks.
From Self-centered Atheist to Altruistic Follower of Jesus - Howard Storm's Near-Death Experience
Q: Could you talk about that for a minute? The change in direction that you've made and how everyone can have it.
First of all, I want to say, I cannot get myself into heaven by anything I do. Faith comes from God.
From Self-centered Atheist to Altruistic Follower of Jesus - Howard Storm's Near-Death Experience
Q: Why is it, do you suppose, that so many people can have near-death experiences and come away with such different points of view about it?
One of the things that I have discovered is that some near-death experiencers are very enchanted with their experience, and they have elaborated on them without the basis for stating them as true.
From Self-centered Atheist to Altruistic Follower of Jesus - Howard Storm's Near-Death Experience
Q: You mentioned this beautiful little song, Jesus Loves Me, and mentioning the name of Jesus. The sense there is that the name of Jesus, and just the very idea of trying to communicate with him in prayer or otherwise, has actual little literal power over evil. Can you expand on that?
Absolutely, and they cannot stand to be near it or hear it, be around it.
