  • The only way

The most recent example was in February where I got the news from my sister and her boyfriend and she told them to stop drinking alcohol for two months before I had the vaccine so that was my last one of them had it but it didn’t help that she didn’t know if I needed anything but it didn’t make any more money so they told her that she was not getting any more than what I needed 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

119. Nature's Healing Power: The Role of Outdoor Play in Brain Health and Development: An Interview with Angela Hanscom, MOTR/L
Q: How do you deal with the danger aspect of outdoor play when families worry about injuries, and how do TimberNook practices balance risk and safety?
Hanscom describes comparing risk-taking environments like adventure playgrounds to TimberNook and notes that guided, age-appropriate risk-taking in nature helps children develop better judgment, while trained staff monitor and support safety and learning.
119. Nature's Healing Power: The Role of Outdoor Play in Brain Health and Development: An Interview with Angela Hanscom, MOTR/L
Q: Can you explain to our audience why spinning helps with balance and how vestibular activities translate into improved attention and motor control?
She explains that spinning and vestibular activities help the brain map body position in space, strengthen eye coordination, and improve attention by activating the vestibular system, which supports postural control and visual tracking.
119. Nature's Healing Power: The Role of Outdoor Play in Brain Health and Development: An Interview with Angela Hanscom, MOTR/L
Q: So Angela, as a fellow OT, how did you get into occupational therapy in the first place, and what drew you to pediatrics specifically?
Hanscom shares that she originally aimed to be a physical therapist, but a camp for children with special needs sparked her interest in the broader development of children, leading her to pursue occupational therapy and ultimately focus on pediatric populations.
114. Multisensory Integration & Healthy Brain Habits: An Interview with Nate Pope, OTR/L
Q: How do you tailor the approach for patients with conditions beyond concussion, like stroke or anxiety?
We adapt the program to address specific neurochemical needs, autonomic regulation, and the particular patterns of impairment, using interval training and tasks that gradually re-engage neural pathways across multiple systems.
121. Bouncing Forward: Alyson Lim’s Teenage Journey Through Concussion Recovery
Q: What advice would you give to others dealing with similar setbacks?
Alyson emphasizes that progress is non-linear, that setbacks don't erase prior gains, and that neuroplasticity and persistence can help the brain bounce back gradually; she stresses taking small steps and staying hopeful.
