  • Used to have better guests

Tara was so glad to interview Joan C Williams but just didn’t seem pick up on her apparently unrealized scorn for the “non-elites.” Just the term is infuriating. Tara just let her go on with her not-so-subtle condescension without pushing back. Maybe you have to be a non-elite to hear the disdain dripping from the mouths of the elites, talking as if they are rubes drawn to a bad guy cuz they don’t know better.

  • Partisan Failure

I’ve generally enjoyed hearing Tara Henley’s perspective and found her to be able to express views outside of her own narrow political beliefs well. The most recent interview with the wildly partisan Joan C Williams was almost stunning in its smug, elitist condescension. Shocked that Tara never even tried to push back.

EP 227: Mike Pesca on Media Insanity
Q: Of all that experience, what do you think has best prepared you for the insane media environment that we now find ourselves in?

Q: How do we think through the impact of overly feminized institutions on women who are high in disagreeability?
Women who are more male-oriented may be more willing to discuss these topics but generally women's caring and nurturing values can create conflicts with institutional goals.

The essence of her argument is largely correct, but I disagree with her deterministic view that institutions will necessarily fail if dominated by women.
