  • Stephan Dion Episode

Thank you for helping the separatist movement in Alberta by having Mr Dion for your most recent episode. He single handedly demonstrated exactly what’s wrong with Canada and why Alberta needs to leave.

  • Love Matt's interviews, but

Jen so often lands on a rhetorical point during interviews and discussions, then repeats the same point for ~20 minutes. More often than not, it's not a thought worth dwelling on.

The hosts have great chemistry, but I’d enjoy more episodes if the conversation is able to keep flowing.

  • All round review of Your opinion in general

Subscribed to your podcast and after a couple listens, do not agree with your opinions. Heard you on CJME, Oct 14th, and it made me automatically respond to your biased commentary. Your opinion that the US is divided and a country in trouble…really?? It’s on the mend from the democrats policy failures, DEI, mass migration and wokeness. Trump is turning things around and back to Christian values. You definitely have TDS. Open your eyes. I am dropping your subscription today

Thank you for this episode. As a born and bred Ontarian, I learned a lesson t. It is also comforting to see something somewhere that Canadians can do that is positive with so many negative events flowing around and upon us.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What Canadian Digital Sovereignty?
Q: What is the practical option for Canada to achieve sovereignty given the dominance of American platforms?
The guest argues for a holistic strategy focused on data governance, standards, intellectual property, and market structure rather than simply moving data centers to Canada or building a state-run alternative.
What Canadian Digital Sovereignty?
Q: But firstly, let's just get big picture here. What exactly do you guys mean by Canadian digital sovereignty?
James explains that sovereignty is about canadians calling the shots and deciding for ourselves what happens online, and questions whether Canada truly exists in the digital realm, not just physically or economically.
When Trump is gone, will we still want a military?
Q: What was your argument about defence spending in Canada, and how did you frame it historically?
The guest argued that even if Canada reaches around 3.5% of GDP on defence during a crisis, long-term sustained spending is uncertain; historically, crises have led to spending retracting after they pass, with structural budget constraints and potential political costs, suggesting a likely plateau around 2-2.5% of GDP unless broader political consensus forms.
Canada vs. America in the trade war
Q: What should observers watch for in the coming months?
Watch for the administration's Congress-facing signals about possible changes to USMCA provisions, the behavior of off-ramps, and the balance between protecting domestic production and maintaining integrated cross-border supply chains. The real indicators will be policy moves, not just rhetoric.
Canada vs. America in the trade war
Q: What is the state of the existing negotiations as we approach key deadlines?
Industry consensus is that the USMCA remains central and that while a formal deal by July 1 is unlikely, summer negotiations will shape the fall outcomes. Expect discussions around improving automotive rules of origin, ensuring North American content, and managing the broader political signals from Congress and the White House.
