This podcast is very informative, and TW has a nice rhythm. It makes it easy for me to listen too. I appreciate this podcast and am thankful for taking your time to make them.
This podcast is absolutely perfect for anyone who is both a history geek and a martial arts nerd.
Sifu TW Smith shares his passion for martial arts and this podcast was my gateway into taking ownership over my own martial journey.
TW Smith does a superhuman job of researching and delivering in-depth discussions on a wide variety of topics related to the history and culture of martial arts, and it's all the more impressive that he brings that kind of quality on a weekly basis. You can listen to this podcast purely for entertainment and you'll certainly get some benefit, but to get the most out of it you might be better off listening in a quiet place where you can take notes. Even though it says "KungFu" in the name, he d... more
I have been listening to the Kung fu podcast for a long time and they just get better
A huge range of topics within martial arts covered in this gem of a podcast, from practical ideas and tips, through to academic research into violence, training methods and the history of different martial arts. A pleasant lack of ego and an open mindedness to the many different reasons behind why people train. Thanks!
I've listened to several of Sifu Smith's podcasts and only recently did it occur to me that I hadn't yet come to iTunes to give both him and the podcast five well-deserved stars. Sifu Smith, mea culpa for that oversight! :-)
Of the few martial arts podcasts that I listen to on a regular basis, I really appreciate the careful attention to historical accuracy as well as the obvious large amount of research that he puts into each episode. This dedication to quality content makes KungFu Podcasts re... more
Excellent!! So much research done ..
A pleasure to listen to ..
Thank you ..
The candor of TW Smith on his approach to Gung Fu ... His fearlessness in pronunciation of chinese words and names. The interviews have depth and are fascinating. Sifu Smith is able to draw out these teachers and get to the meat of their practice quickly. I appreciate that Sifu Smith doesn't gloss over the details, is gritty and has the heart/mind to get real pictures of what it was like to study with various masters and the nature of the transmissions. This podcast is a gem and invaluable to th... more
This show is informative, entertaining, and highly motivating.
Keep up the good work and train hard!
In this podcast, Sifu Smith often says that he practices kung fu "to be a better person first, and a better martial artist second." At first hearing, this seems a little bit like an excuse to be a mediocre martial artist. But after listening to every episode of this podcast and most of its companion podcast, Tibetan Kung Fu, I get the feeling that Sifu Smith is an excellent martial artist as well as teacher. He also seems to find time to read a lot, paticularly articles about the history of asia... more
Kung Fu Podcast is about kung fu, and much more. If you think of kung fu as a specific style of Chinese martial art, you will enjoy Sifu TW Smith's delivery of history, culture, and explanations of various aspects of this fighting system. If you think of kung fu as "learned skill," or "excellence," two popular translations of the term, you will also appreciate what Sifu Smith brings to the microphone. His podcast embodies the journey one can take when learning any style of martial art. I current... more
Sifu does such a wonderful job on this podcast! I always learn something new, and it has caused me to look at my art and the martial arts in general in a new light. I always get excited to see a new episode is waiting for me to listen to it. Thank you so much Sifu TW Smith for all the work you do! Pete
TW Smith is one of the finest individuals in the martial arts there is; he reinforces the idea why I am still in the martial arts---because of people like him. His podcast is outstanding and enjoyable to listen to!
I have just finished listening to all of the podcasts, (YES I LISTENED TO ALL OF THEM) and I wanted to write a review. First off let me start with congratulating you on such an amazing podcast, having only found this podcast last week I feel as though I have a deeper understanding of the different arts that you have talked about. I have found you and the different guests speakers you have had on inspirational and you have given me the love that I have for the arts increase ten fold. For me I fee... more
Wonderfully ecumenical approach. Many excellent topics discussed, and I especially appreciate his non-magical approach to internal practices.
Mr Smith's delivery is prepared but still natural. He addresses root causes, not surface details.
