  • Great content...

Great content (thank you), but please do some work on sound quality. The main speakers are often not quite loud or clear enough & distracted by background noise.

  • Microphones badly positioned

Coughing from the Chair was very loud and disruptive. Sound levels were noticeably different between different speakers.

Content was interesting though a bit anodyne. Questions from the audience did not produce much additional enlightenment.

  • Too quiet

The content is great but this podcast would be so much better if I could listen to it while commuting. Unfortunately the voices are just too quiet even on full volume. Please increase the sound levels.

A keynote speech by Matthew Pennycook MP, Minister for Housing and Planning
Q: What do you see as the biggest remaining practical barriers to successful transition to Commonhold, and how are you planning to address them?
Key barriers include public awareness and understanding of Commonhold, the transition mechanics, and the need to avoid disruption. The government is conducting consultations, refining the bill, and aiming to roll out Commonhold developments at scale while ensuring protections and a coherent regulatory framework.
A keynote speech by Matthew Pennycook MP, Minister for Housing and Planning
Q: You've set out clear ambition to move away from Leasole to the walls, come and hold over this parliament. Can you talk us through how you see that transition working in practice, particularly beyond the parliament, and how will we know whether we're on track in 10 years' time?
The approach rests on making come and hold the default tenure, proceeding with a staged transition, and ensuring leaseholders can take control of their buildings. The plan includes keeping up with Law Commission recommendations, making enfranchisement cheaper and easier, and establishing clear commencement dates so people know what will happen and when.
A state rewired? Civil service size, shape, and turnover
Q: What are the biggest structural changes needed in the civil service to reflect the changing nature of work?
A combination of tighter, more strategic workforce planning, a shift to skills-based recruitment and development, better alignment between HR and business leadership, and a move away from rigid structures toward more dynamic, profession-led pathways.
A state rewired? Civil service digital transformation, data, and artificial intelligence
Q: How do we move beyond small pilots and scale successful digital and AI initiatives across government?
Strong leadership that provides clear ownership, aligns teams, and commits to implementing at scale; prioritizing cross-functional collaboration; and building the capabilities and governance needed to sustain change beyond pilots.
Can Rachel Reeves protect both households and the public finances from the energy price shock?
Q: What should the government say next week to reassure the public and businesses?
Publish a plan outlining how efficiency and electrification will be pursued, ensure targeted support for those most in need, and emphasize data-driven, targeted mechanisms.
