As a long-term resident of Portugal, I was disappointed by the misleading framing in this episode — particularly the claims made by the British bookshop owner interviewed.
She says that when she moved to Portugal, she “realised there was no tax on her UK tax return,” implying this happened automatically. This is simply not true.
