  • Lost its spark

Began listening to this from the start. It’s … fine. A good overview of what’s happening in Westminster every week with the odd interesting interview. Was once helmed by the columnist John Harris. While he started off as an overly aggressive interviewer, he grew into the role, offering a much needed weekly dose of common sense and what seemed like a genuine interest in how politics affects the average person. He’s been gone for weeks and the new team is … fine, but very much of the who-WhatsAppe... more

  • Superb podcast

I have just listened to what I think is the most levelheaded sensible discussion regarding how we should prepare to defend the nation against possible attack.

  • Excellent episodes with Rob Ford

Please interview Rob Ford again - some of the most interesting, informed analysis I’ve heard about our current political landscape. Why is no-one at the top of government listening to this stuff? All the necessary data on which to base an effective strategy is being laid out for them by people like Rob. Thanks very much in general for a great podcast. Unlike some previous reviewers, I’m a big fan of John Harris’s interviews on the streets - if we don’t want to live in our own bubbles, we need th... more

  • Not real journalism

More of a reputation management, and promotion of other corrupt political actors — not real journalism. The guardian cannot be trusted anymore — too much money coming in from NGOs and third party globalist organisations, they are entirely compromised.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

On the byelection campaign trail with Andy Burnham
Q: What did you tell them you'd do about flooding and public services in Makerfield?
I pledged never to stop until we take away the flooding risk, arguing for stronger local accountability and public ownership where appropriate, and to use national levers to fix systemic problems like water management and air quality.
Will Reform dominate the local and devolved elections?
Q: How might the results in London influence Labour and the Conservatives more broadly?
London results could signal broader urban-voter shifts, highlighting risks for Labour in traditional strongholds and potential gains for Greens or Reform in outer areas, which would influence national party messaging and candidate selection.
Will Reform dominate the local and devolved elections?
Q: Will the local elections tell us much about the next general election?
They will not predict the general election with precision, but they will reveal how fragmentation, regional dynamics, and insurgent movements are reshaping the political landscape and party strategies ahead of Westminster contests.
Labour’s mistakes: is it too late to turn things around?
Q: Have voters already made up their minds about Keir Starmer, or could perceptions still change?
Ford suggests Starmer's standing has fallen to a point where a sustained rebound is unlikely without a significant external catalyst, such as a major national event; leadership changes can reset perceptions but rarely guarantee a long-term recovery.
Wes Streeting: ‘I don’t want to see Keir challenged in May’
Q: What is your view on thePalantir contract and its ethics for the NHS data and technology modernization?
There are valid concerns about ethics and data security, but assurances have been provided that data remains UK-based and under NHS control while leveraging a platform to improve services.
