  • I'm a regular listener and enjoy the insights and analysis. Almost took a star off for the failure to address the obvious angle on British Indians' swing to Reform; i.e. Islamophobia!

  • Grauniad-smug but highly credible

I am often annoyed by this show, but I do give them credit for knowing their onions.

I find John Harris appealing though he gives more time than I would to the ignorant opinions of vote-fodder on the streets. I wish he would give more time to the Greens, because I need to understand why they and Reform are mistaken, if so they are, and I would trust John Harris to tell me.

  • A platform for bigotry?

I should love this podcast, I read the Guardian, I’m a liberal-leftie and I love politics podcasts. But…. I enjoy the studio discussions and find them interesting. But I loathe, loathe, loathe the vox pops. I am really not interested in John Harris vox popping the most bigoted, ignorant people he can find. It’s an unpleasant listen having to hear racist and xenophobic views platformed with not even a gentle challenge or push back.

There are far better politics podcasts out there. Lose the vox ... more

  • Reform conference

The last episode where John goes back to anywhere but Westminster mode interviewing brummies was brilliant. Something only John really does in the podcast genre.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

‘The centre cannot hold’: John Curtice on the collapse of two-party politics
Q: What does all that mean for the next general election then?
Unless the Labour Party can improve its presentation and deliver tangible improvements in the economy and public services, it's going to struggle to regain even its previous support levels due to the thinness of its backing.
‘The centre cannot hold’: John Curtice on the collapse of two-party politics
Q: What is particularly remarkable about the opinion polls that we're seeing right now?
Currently, Labour and the Conservatives together hold support from just 37% of voters, with Labour at an all-time low of 19% and the Conservatives at 18%. This indicates a significant fracturing of support and raises questions about the future of the two-party system.
Trump’s fragile ceasefire plan: what next for Gaza?
Q: What matters now is to get more Palestinian faces forward?
The focus should be on the governance in Gaza and establishing a viable Palestinian political body.
Trump’s fragile ceasefire plan: what next for Gaza?
Q: Can we just start though in the here and now?
The current state of peace is celebratory, but it's overshadowed by the complex issues locally in Gaza.
Labour’s Bridget Phillipson on Gaza, child poverty and the deputy leadership race
Q: Do you think the moment has come now... to revisit some of those pre-manifesto pledges that were made on tax?
No, those commitments stand. We made those commitments, and we need to tread with real care in any tax questions that we consider.
