Yes, I’ve noticed a trend in this program and other BBC political output for the journalists to provide to the listener /viewer their own opinions. Which means that rather than have objective reporting and summarising of the facts we have ‘opinions’ presented that are cast as fact and authoritative comment. The exception to that are the guests or interviewees who are so much more aware of not muddying the water with such personal positions or commentary. The BBC really has to be very careful ho... more
BBCs anti Trump seems to still be showing. Do try to be open minded and think about that “special relationship”. The world has went wrong and getting right is messy. Friends are there through the messy bits. Try to be fair, you’re treading on a friendship.
This used to be good but it’s all about the presenters talking about themselves now. Maybe a change of presenters would get it back on track.
Well presented and digestible round up of the day’s news. Was surprised to see so many bad reviews which makes me think that one person has got it in for this team. If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it!
I have only just listening to Newscast after faithfully listening to Americast for a long time. Interesting and informative. As well presented as Americast. I will definitely be following this podcast.

Across recent episodes, the show centers on breaking political and global news, with heavy emphasis on UK politics, international conflicts, and policy implications. It blends live reporting, expert commentary, and in-depth interviews to explain how events unfold and affect markets, households, and public life. A notable element is the use of high-profile BBC correspondents and economists to connect geopolitical moves to everyday costs, while keeping a fast-paced, question-driven format that helps listeners follow complex narratives. The program often features on-the-ground reporting from war zones or capitals, plus timely analysis of energy prices, parliamentary dynamics, and strategic alliances.
