  • Enjoyable podcast

Excellent podcast. I enjoy my daily update and the presenters are informative yet they have a good rapport. Nice to have the mix of the seriousness of current events with a joke here and there. Keep up the good work!

  • Great but….

Where did the BBC style manual go ? Capitalisation of non-nouns in triple is distinctly Trumpian .

Journalism and explanatory chat is excellent .

  • I’ve noticed a trend…

Yes, I’ve noticed a trend in this program and other BBC political output for the journalists to provide to the listener /viewer their own opinions. Which means that rather than have objective reporting and summarising of the facts we have ‘opinions’ presented that are cast as fact and authoritative comment. The exception to that are the guests or interviewees who are so much more aware of not muddying the water with such personal positions or commentary. The BBC really has to be very careful ho... more

  • Anti Trump isn’t news

BBCs anti Trump seems to still be showing. Do try to be open minded and think about that “special relationship”. The world has went wrong and getting right is messy. Friends are there through the messy bits. Try to be fair, you’re treading on a friendship.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

MPs Grill Starmer Over Mandelson (Again)
Q: What did the Foreign Office letter reveal about the handling of vetting information?
The letter, signed by Ollie Robbins and Yvette Cooper, suggested information was conveyed in a misleading way by omission, which raised questions about accountability and accuracy before the Foreign Affairs Select Committee.
MPs Grill Starmer Over Mandelson (Again)
Q: Why is Ollie Robbins' role central to the Mandelson vetting saga?
Robbins' actions are pivotal because they relate to who in Whitehall could have informed ministers about vetting outcomes, and whether political leaders were properly informed without breaching confidentiality.
MPs Grill Starmer Over Mandelson (Again)
Q: What kind of parliamentary moment did this feel like?
It felt like a significant but quiet moment, with a long opening statement and a largely silent House, signaling the gravity of the situation without the usual audible partisan noise.
The Legal Advisers Helping Migrants Pose As Gay
Q: Why is it so hard for the Home Office to detect fraud in these cases?
Because the evidence can be circumstantial and variable, there is no definitive test for credibility, and the types of evidence can be changed by fraudsters to adapt to evolving policies and checks.
The Legal Advisers Helping Migrants Pose As Gay
Q: What did the undercover reporter experience when meeting Tanisha in her bedroom consultation?
Tanisha described an end-to-end service to facilitate a fake gay asylum claim, including evidence gathering, coaching for interviews, and arranging a pretend partner; the journalist was then coached to present a credible, though fraudulent, narrative before the Home Office.
