Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What Makes Hope Possible: A Veteran's Story of Struggle and Survival
Q: How did the experience at PATHH map onto the broader concepts of connection, regulation, and hope within posttraumatic growth?
PATHH provided the 'why' behind connection, taught me practical regulation techniques, and helped me construct a new story of hope, which is the core of PTG.
Episode 4: Could PTG Be a Protective Factor Against Suicide?
Q: What drew you to study PTG and suicide, and how has your work evolved in this area?
I didn't set out to study suicide initially; I was invited to write a chapter on PTG and suicide, and through that research I connected the dots between PTG mechanisms and suicide prevention, discovering the CRH framework and the value of hope, connection, and regulation.
Episode 4: Could PTG Be a Protective Factor Against Suicide?
Q: Could you define expert companionship and why it is critical for connection in suicide prevention?
Expert companionship means listening deeply to a person's story, recognizing where they are in the PTG process, and guiding them toward positive elements in their experience, providing presence, validation, and a beacon of hope to keep them engaged.
Episode 4: Could PTG Be a Protective Factor Against Suicide?
Q: But can you give kind of a layman's terms breakdown of what the CRH model is?
The CRH model focuses on three interdependent areas we should work on: connect with others and with meaning, regulate to tolerate psychological pain, and foster hope to enable a path forward, with regulation often serving as the first critical step.
Holding Hope: A Conversation About PTG and Suicide
Q: Why is it not enough to simply tell someone to 'think positive' during crisis?
Because PTG develops through an ongoing, honest relationship where the caregiver stays present and helps the person see and explore possibilities, rather than imposing growth on them, which can backfire if the person doesn't feel understood or connected.
