Boring Books for Bedtime is a weekly, ad-free, AI-free sleep podcast in which we calmly, quietly read something rather boring to silence the brain chatter keeping you awake. Think Aristotle, Thoreau, and whoever wrote the 1897 Sears Catalog—mostly nonfiction, mostly old, a perfect balance of vaguely-but-not-too interesting. If you're on Team Sleepless, lie back, take a deep breath, and let us read... more

Thanks for putting me to sleep, tho the read is not always boring! The Muir episodes are so beautiful and gentle, I’ve always drifted off long before the reading concludes.
I got five minutes into the Wealth of Nations reading before I put my fingerrrr on it… the narrator says “labour” (a word overused by Mr Smith) in the same way Sabrina Carpenter sings “singerrrr”. Intriguing, but not the soporific effect I’d hoped for from such a podcast.
I have trouble sleeping, this helps more than you know. Plus I share a room with my sister, she doesn't care
I am pretty certain the narration is AI. A voice can be cloned but it lacks warmth and it doesn’t work for me.
Background music is distracting. Voice almost whispers so have to turn way up.

This line-up features long-form, calm readings of mostly historical, scientific, or literary non-fiction chosen for bedtime listening. Episodes favor tranquil narration, slow pacing, and gentle delivery to quiet the mind, often including project Gutenberg links and context around the works. Content ranges from medieval history and natural science to classic economics and travelogues, all presented as soothing, bedtime readings designed to help listeners drift off without a how-to or interview format. A notable selling point is the consistent, ad-free, AI-free approach and the clear emphasis on accessible, slow-paced education that doubles as a sleep aid for insomniacs and casual knowledge lovers alike.
