  • Not even an OT and I absolutely love this.

Professional and incredible audio with amazing interviews. Loved the one with Megan Kummerow most, it came across as a cathartic conversation between two highly intelligent and extremely dedicated women. Having had head injuries in the past and dealt with many OTs, I have nothing but respect for people committed to this role and thoroughly enjoyed learning more about what goes in to being an OT. Thanks for making this podcast and thanks for everything you do, I’ll be tuning in for the rest of th... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 77: Your Questions Answered - Living and Working in Darwin, NDIS Changes, Expanding a team and more!
Q: How to apply for a job as a new grad at the practice you're working at as an OTA?
The host recommends applying as if you're a new external OT, preparing a strong resume, seeking opportunities to interview elsewhere to gauge market demand and avoid over-reliance on a single employer, and to seek visibility to ensure there is a formal sense of merit for the role.
Ep 77: Your Questions Answered - Living and Working in Darwin, NDIS Changes, Expanding a team and more!
Q: What post-grad study slash masters would benefit in OT working in Peds?
She suggests pursuing targeted masters that align with pediatric practice and mentions options like autism-focused training, sensory development courses, and other specialized certifications, while noting that a general business qualification can also be valuable for private practice.
Ep 77: Your Questions Answered - Living and Working in Darwin, NDIS Changes, Expanding a team and more!
Q: Is it better to specialize straight away in post-grad or head to community slash more general areas?
The host advises new grads to focus on mastering one area first—specific FCA work for CP or physical disabilities—and then gradually expand into other areas like psychosocial and complex cases, rather than taking a broad, unfocused role from the start.
79: The Story of Flexxi Beauty with Bella Morton-Smith
Q: How did you become an OT and start this project?
Bella explains she wanted to help people in healthcare from a young age, and after working in Mecca during her OT studies, she saw gaps in accessible makeup tools. Supported by her family, she pursued the idea, prototyped with local manufacturers, and iterated extensively based on feedback from people with limited hand function, ultimately launching Flexi Beauty.
79: The Story of Flexxi Beauty with Bella Morton-Smith
Q: What is Flexi Beauty?
Flexi Beauty is a makeup brand specifically designed to make makeup tools accessible for people with limited hand and wrist function and disabilities. The current product is a single handle with four interchangeable brush attachments that magnetize onto the handle, with a right-angled option and a wider palm-friendly grip, built to be easier to hold and use for those with limited dexterity.
