“I truly believe that motors were used to win bike races” - Greg LeMond, three-time winner of the Tour de France.
In January 2016, 19-year-old Belgian cyclist Femke van den Driessche was caught with a collection of wires, motors and batteries buried deep inside her spare bike at the Cyclo-cross World Championships.
She was then suspended for six years and bore the wrath of global media as the only... more

As anyone familiar with hand or pedal crank generators, batteries are not necessary to produce immediate power - and the ability to add anywhere from 50 to over 100 watts of assistance at the pedals … in any number of “miniaturized” variations of the ways that mid drive motors from major bike manufacturers work … without interfering with the normal operation of the bike or changing ... more
It was very good but I would hardly call it a crime podcast it’s more sporty ish it was really good though!! Can’t believe these people got away with it!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯
An entertainingly offbeat mix of true crime and sports reporting, looking at something you probably haven't heard of - motor doping, or using tiny hidden motors to cheat at cycling. Unlike quite a few podcast hosts, Chris Marshall-Bell comes across as genuinely enthusiastic about exploring the weird world he's stepping into, be it tracking down the inventor of motor doping, or exploring the rudest town in Belgium. Take a listen!
Excellent in-depth investigation of yet another suspected cheating scandal in cycling, from a journalist who leaves no stone unturned in his quest to get answers on a topic that others have treated more as myth than a story to be seriously interrogated.
