Oh dear. Once upon a time, James Lasdun was a serious writer who wrote beautifully crafted short stories full of delicate observations on human psychology; An Anxious Man springs to mind. Very interesting but a little repetitive, my main quibble is Louise Callahan’s very sloppy diction, she has a pleasant voice but the ends of some words slip away .
It’s obvious who killed Lorna and — despite the journalist’s bizarre attitude towards the African continent (and I’ve lived and worked in rural West Africa where we are well used to “witch doctors”)— it clearly wasn’t a South African.
Can’t wait for the rest of the episodes!
