  • People don’t talk about WISDOM enough these days

…but that’s what this is, right? The real wisdom won from experiences both good and unimaginably awful. So much more important than “life hacks” and all the other homilies we get offered left right and centre. This is the real stuff.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Johnny Ball’s greatest stories – From Ringo Starr to Queen Elizabeth II
Q: One decision that you would change now if you could go back in time?
He reflects that the only project he didn't complete was an idea about alternative energy, realizing humor didn't fit that topic as well as other subjects; otherwise, he followed his curiosity and kept pushing forward, moving from TV to corporate work and back to teaching through entertaining formats.
Jane Horrocks on Absolutely Fabulous and finding a purpose in life
Q: What is your sense of purpose now as you move forward in life?
Horrocks acknowledges the ongoing search for purpose, emphasizing patience and a willingness to let the next chapter unfold rather than forcing it, while staying engaged in meaningful work and community.
Jane Horrocks on Absolutely Fabulous and finding a purpose in life
Q: How did your experience with those wonderful actors shape your career?
She describes the early RSC experience as a blessing, learning from senior actors like Fiona Shaw, Juliet Stevenson, and Alan Rickman, which informed her work ethic and approach to performance for years to come.
Jane Horrocks on Absolutely Fabulous and finding a purpose in life
Q: What made you originally want to act?
Horrocks explains that her imagination, driven by early exposure to drama and memorable performances, kept her fascinated with acting and singing, which led her toward drama school and a determination to pursue the craft despite challenges.
Prue Leith – On leaving Bake Off and finding love again at 70
Q: If you look back to when you were 18, what piece of advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?
I wouldn't have given my 18-year-old any advice because she wouldn't have taken it anyway, but more broadly I'd urge young people to surround themselves with people they like and admire, and to work for a company that is ethical and kind.
