Reviews

4.3 out of 5 stars from 27 ratings
  • Informative but audio is a big let down

The Experince ANU podcast is very informative with discussions on major topics of our time by current thinkers. However the fidelity of the audio recordings are a let down. Quite a number of the discussions are so low it requires the listener to turn up the volume to the max to hear the speakers. Please improve your audio recordings

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Meet The Author - Caitlin Vincent
Q: Tell us about that.
Caitlin explains the difficulty of defining opera, arguing it is a flexible toolkit rather than a fixed genre, with its meaning shaped by libretto, score, and production choices.
Meet the author - Antoinette Lattouf
Q: What do you think about the balance between reporting and impartiality when the facts are overwhelmingly on one side?
Impartiality should not mean giving equal weight to falsehoods or distortions; when the facts are clear, balance should reflect the truth rather than a contrived notion of neutrality.
Meet the author - Antoinette Lattouf
Q: So what was your thinking though about the legal action so quickly in the piece?
I felt it was a straightforward response to an attempt to silence me, and the public interest in revealing the truth and setting a precedent for workers' rights and freedom of expression outweighed the immediate personal cost.
Meet the author - Dervla McTiernan
Q: What's next after this book?
A new Irish series set in the same broader world, following two sisters with opposing roles in a murder trial and on a farm, explored through parallel narratives.
Meet the author - Susan Lever
Q: How has your view of Hope changed since you began the biography, especially regarding his openness to religion and ideology?
Lever notes that Hope was uncommitted and skeptical, but she now sees a more complex figure who wrestled with Catholicism and religious questions, showing that his stance could be nuanced rather than strictly anti-religious or ideologically fixed.
