  • Blinded by bias

I have listened to Conversations for years and although it has gotten progressively more woke over the last few years, I have mostly still enjoyed it, especially the hosts. Richard and Sarah are great. This episode from the Brisbane writers festival was the widest I’ve ever heard. The guest is so incredibly deranged when it comes to Trump that he obviously can’t even bring himself to fact check his claims and assertions about the President. He made so many false claims that I can’t even begin to... more

  • John Howard’s toy poodle epiphany

Once again I have hugely enjoyed your conversation with John Howard Richard. I smiled a lot but also found myself shedding a tear at times thinking of my own bizarre childhood. I loved that he shared so openly his sad life’s story. And so admired him for picking himself up and finding love and himself in a little dog. Keep strong John and don’t loose what you’ve worked so hard for. Thank you Richard for all your and Sarah’s interesting topics so well conversed with interesting people and topics.... more

  • Love Coversations!

Always love Richard and have listened to this show for many years.

My only other comment is that I wish he would stop using the term ‘sir’ for many of his male guests.

My year with the real Rudolf Nureyev — a volatile but vulnerable genius
Q: So what was that first experience of sailing with Nureyev, I guess, taking care of him in some sense? What was that like?
It was positive; he enjoyed the boat and shared moments of curiosity, and I began my role as his dresser and companion, handling both practical needs and the emotional support of someone under constant public gaze.
Sandi Toksvig's bright side
Q: You faced significant backlash after coming out in 1994. How did you handle that in relation to your career and your children?
She prioritized her children's safety and well-being over career pressures, understanding that authenticity and family came first, and has since used that experience to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and representation.
Sandi Toksvig's bright side
Q: How did moving from Denmark to the United States shape your view of the world and journalism?
The experience broadened her sense of possibility, taught her to approach every new place with curiosity, and reinforced the idea that every culture has something to offer if you listen closely.
Sandi Toksvig's bright side
Q: Hi, Sandi. Tell me a bit about the kind of man your father was and what he meant to you.
Her father was famous yet grounded in truth and service; he stressed accuracy, honesty, and treating others with respect, which she regards as a lasting influence on her own approach to work and life.
Encore: How I came to work with the lions who live in trees
Q: How did the drone change the way you document tree-climbing lions?
The drone allowed us to get within a meter of Jacob and capture intimate behaviors that would have been impossible from the ground, helping establish him as a central figure in the story and illustrating how technology can reveal new facets of animal behavior.
