4.5 out of 5 stars from 4.2k ratings
  • Platform for idiots…

Sarah Wilson babbling on over the importance of her word salads on Substack is enough to prove this.

Do these people even listen to themselves?… obviously no one else does.

  • Too many ads

Love the pod but 4 minutes of obnoxious ads is too much considering the average length of an episode. I’ve listened to this podcast for years now, as well as being a reader of their weekly publication but since the purchase of the podcast by Solstice, the ads are really getting out of hand with frequency and topic.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The man who took the fight to Andrew 'Twiggy' Forrest
Q: Ben, how did Michael Woodley become this guy who's known for battling Andrew Forrest and his enormous mining interests?
Michael Woodley emerged as a community leader who used a combination of legal knowledge, cultural authority, and steadfast commitment to Injibandi land rights to challenge Fortescue's plans, turning a local dispute into a prolonged national conversation about native title, sovereignty, and the human costs of extraction.
Is the budget backlash hurting Labor?
Q: In your view, is Albanese as Prime Minister doing enough to combat the rise of the populist right here?
The strategy seems to focus on strengthening Labor's alliance with younger and urban voters, while recognizing that the rise of the populist right demands careful messaging on immigration, economic fairness, and the so-called 'fair go' for the middle and working classes.
Is the budget backlash hurting Labor?
Q: Do you think that's accurate? And if so, where's that sentiment coming from?
The sentiment stems from a broad feeling that the country is headed in the wrong direction, with economic pressures like inflation and ongoing crises shaping perceptions beyond the budget specifics.
Is the budget backlash hurting Labor?
Q: What did you make of the news poll that said 52% of the people feel the budget will leave them worse off?
Kos Samaras suggests the poll reflects a widespread sentiment about direction and expectations rather than a direct hit to Labor's vote; the impact is nuanced and will depend on how issues resonate with different demographic groups, especially younger voters.
Tanya Plibersek on the PM’s viral DV comments and calls for a royal commission
Q: Minister, welcome to 7am. Why is there a strong push for a royal commission in this area?
The minister explains the public demand, references frontline insights, and contrasts ongoing inquiries with the need for sustained, practical action, while acknowledging the history of royal commissions in related sectors.
