  • why her?

4 June 2025 - Did you really think I needed or wanted to listen to an interview with P.Hanson? Or does she just suit your agenda? Over-use of people like her is one big part of the reason legacy media is on the skids.

  • Music really distracting

Coming back after a break of not listening and the music is an unwelcome addition for me.. it’s often at odds with the story’s tone and sounds… royalty free. doesn’t hit the ‘NYT Daily’ balance that I feel like it’s trying to. I’d prefer no music - I’m engaged with just the guests & topics

  • Pollie interviews

Such a shame that you have started polluting a once great podcast with politicians.

We have enough of their input elsewhere. Please stick with the old format…

I particularly love Peter Hartcher interviews: always insightful and clever. We need such excellent analysts to navigate this crazy time.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

A secret, a revelation and a life forever changed for cop turned alleged victim
Q: What was it like to call your former teacher and confront him directly as part of gathering evidence?
It was one of the hardest moments of my life, carefully framed with guidance from experts to ensure the call could serve as solid evidence and potentially spare others from the same trauma, even though it reopened old wounds.
A secret, a revelation and a life forever changed for cop turned alleged victim
Q: What happened back in 2012 during the training session that brought all of this back for you?
I recalled the grooming lecture and the offender's hands-on approach, which abruptly unlocked a memory of my own abuse as a 14-year-old, forcing me to confront what had been silenced for years.
A secret, a revelation and a life forever changed for cop turned alleged victim
Q: So Graeme, you were a police officer for 27 years with Victoria Police. Can you just tell us, I guess, about some of your biggest and perhaps most memorable cases and why you love the job so much?
I describe a career filled with high-stakes, real-world investigations across major crime, sex offences, and child abuse units, driven by a commitment to represent victims and pursue answers for families, which I found incredibly rewarding despite the emotional toll.
How Gen Z in India turned an insult into a political uprising
Q: So are they actually fighting for any real change?
The guest explains that while it started as a joke, the momentum and government pushback have given the movement credibility, and it has outlined a concrete manifesto with reforms aimed at anti-corruption, gender representation, and media independence, suggesting there could be real political implications if it formalizes.
Why the era of sniffer dogs at music festivals could be over
Q: How did the 2019 inquest and the Raya Meredith case influence current policy?
The inquest highlighted harms from aggressive searches and the Meredith case resulted in damages against NSW Police, leading to policy reconsiderations and public scrutiny that helped push for more measured enforcement.
